Pictured: Thomas Cranmer - First Protestant Archbishop of Canterbury, Architect of the Book of Common Prayer, and Christian Martyr.
Our worship follows the Anglican Tradition which traces its roots back to the English Reformation of the mid-sixteenth century.
These following four verses of scripture, known by Thomas Cranmer, as "The Comfortable Words" sit at the very heart of our life together:
Matthew 11:28 "Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will refresh you."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son so that those who believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
1 Timothy 1:15 "This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
1 John 2:1 "And if anyone one sin we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous, who is the perfect offering for our sins."
The best picture of our doctrine is found in The Thirty-nine Articles of Religion begining on page 867 of the Book of Common Prayer, 1979. We also highly recommend the Preface to the First Book of Common Prayer penned in 1549 and found on page 866.
We believe Christ's lasts words from the cross - "It is finished" - to be the most important proclamation the world has ever known. Christ's "full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice" has reconciled us, once and for all, to our Creator.
We believe scripture contains all things necessary for salvation so our preaching is faithful to God's Word, focused on Christ's compassion for sinners and sufferers, and in conversation with the great councils and traditions of the Church.
We believe Christ died for sinners like you...yes, you! (and us too, of course) So, you can expect our preaching to emphasize God's unmerited, one-way, totally unconditional love that is offered to us in Christ.
